As the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) gears up for the most anticipated three-day Forum of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the 79th ordinary session of the ACHPR in Banjul, our workaholic Executive Director, Mrs Hannah Forster was on Wednesday 8th May 2024 invited by Paradise TV on its Cafe Aljana Show.
A show widely followed by both local and international viewers, ED Forster delved into the Forum’s importance and anticipated outcomes, which the Centre is collaborating with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), with support from Open Society Foundations (OSF); Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel ((UNOWAS).
The Forum that is scheduled to start on Saturday the 11 of May 2024 will end on Monday the 13 of May 2024 on the theme: THE YEAR OF EDUCATION: “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa” in consonance with the African Union Theme of the Year.
Discussing various issues, ED Forster also dwelled on the state of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, especially the incidents unfolding in Sudan; the increase in conflict situations; and the rise in fundamentalism as we as situations of unconstitutional changes in government being perpetuated on the continent.
