Banjul, 28 July 2025 — As part of our series of engagements, members of the Governing Council and Advisory Committee of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) met with Hon. Justice Reymond Sock, the Centre’s first Executive Director.
Executive Director Mrs. Hannah Forster opened the meeting, followed by remarks from Chairperson Justice Solomy Bossa, who thanked Justice Sock for his foundational role in the Centre’s establishment and highlighted the significance of his presence in the celebration of the Centre’s upcoming 35th anniversary.
In response, Justice Sock expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Centre. He commended its progress over the years, particularly its strengthened networking capacity. “It’s now more difficult to fight for human rights and democracy,” he said. “Africa has suffered, but we must not pass that legacy of struggle to the next generation.”
Hon. Teneng Mba Jaiteh thanked Justice Sock for his service to The Gambia, fondly recalling a past mission in Saudi Arabia where he entrusted her with leading a delegation. She called on him to continue offering guidance and support to the Centre.
