Banjul, The Gambia — July 23, 2025 — The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) will host the annual Meeting of the Steering Committee Members of the Forum of NGOs in the work of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights from 25th to 26th July 2025 in Banjul, The Gambia.
This high-level consultative meeting will bring together members of the Steering Committee (STC) who represent Sub-Regional Focal Points across Africa. The two-day gathering serves as a critical platform for evaluating the Forum’s work, refining strategies, and aligning plans ahead of the upcoming Forum of NGOs in the work of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
The African Centre convenes the Forum and also serves as its Secretariat. The Forum is traditionally held three days before the Ordinary Session of the African Commission, ensuring timely and strategic civil society engagement with the continental human rights mechanism.
Held biannually, the Forum serves as a vital space for civil society actors to engage, collaborate, and influence the human rights agenda on the continent. The Steering Committee’s role is central to maintaining the Forum’s relevance, responsiveness, and credibility.
