ACDHRS Strengthens Support Ahead of October NGO Forum

Dakar, Senegal — 31 August 2026: Preparations for the October NGO Forum are gaining momentum as the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) strengthens partnerships with key institutions and media organisations in Senegal.

ACDHRS met with Senegal’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Me Moussa Sarr, who reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to support the organisation of the Forum and promote human rights, good governance and democratic values.

The Centre also engaged the OHCHR West Africa Regional Office (WARO), which committed support towards the Forum and expressed willingness to explore additional financial and logistical support.

The delegation further met with ITV and Radio, which expressed readiness to support media coverage of the October Forum and provide platforms for discussions and interviews to help bring human rights issues to wider audiences.

The engagements form part of ACDHRS’s ongoing preparations for the NGOs Forum preceding the 89th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, scheduled for 8–10 October 2026 in Dakar.

The Forum will bring together civil society organisations and human rights defenders from across Africa and beyond to discuss human rights challenges, share experiences and strengthen civil society participation in the African human rights system.
