LOGISTICAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

Dates:The dates for the Forum are: 10-12April, 2014
Language:The proceedings of the Forum will be conducted in English and French with simultaneous interpretation facilities.
Registration:All participants to the NGO Forum are required to pre-register on-line at www.acdhrs.org not later than Monday, 15th September, 2014. The African Centre is not obliged to process registration forms received after the deadline.
Please note that pre-registration online is a MUST as details provided must be forwarded by the ACDHRS to the ACHPR well in advance to facilitate the issue of personalized invitation letters which will facilitate the visa issue process (see more on visa below).
Failure to comply might lead to challenges with visa acquisition and the African Centre would not be held responsible.
Registration Fees: On arrival at the Forum venue, participants must register and pay a registration fee of US$100.00 (one hundred US Dollars) or its equivalent in CFA at the Registration Desk on Friday, 10th October, 2014.
Registered participants will be provided with tea/coffee (morning and afternoon, stationery, documentation, interpretation headsets and other logistics) for the duration of the Forum only.
Please note that participants will be responsible for their lunches.
Visa: Participants who require visas are kindly advised to obtain such visas before departure from their respective countries of residence. Please check with your Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the nearest diplomatic representation.
Arrangements have been made for visas to be issued to participants on arrival who do not have Angolan diplomatic/consular representation in their countries of residence provided such participants provide the following:
- Personalized letter of invitation to the Forum/Session (Issued by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR)
- 2 passport-size photographs
- Passport
Please note that Visa fees may apply.
Side/Parallel Events: NGOs planning to organize side/parallel events should kindly forward related information to the Centre such as date, venue, organizers, topic/subject, expected outcome, details of contact person, etc. The information will be shared with participants for better coordination and participation.
Accommodation: Reservations should be made directly with the Hotels list in the ACHPR’s Information Note. When making your reservation, kindly indicate that you will be participating in the NGOs Forum/ACHPR Session to benefit from the negotiated rates.
Local Transportation: Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Forum’s venue.
However, transportation will be provided for participants to the Session’s venue provided participants are accommodated at the Hotels listed in the ACHPR’s Information Note.
Health: Participants must also ensure that they take the necessary vaccination and travel with the vaccination card which is an entry requirement.
Weather: Temperature is expected to be between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius, kindly travel with appropriate clothing.
Currency: Kwanza is the local currency and is currently trading at about 1 US$ to K100.00. Travellers’ cheques are also accepted.
Telecommunications: Cell phone service providers are Movicel and Unitel
Electricity Voltage: The voltage is 220-240V AC, accessible with two pin wall plugs.
Secretariat: The Secretariat is located next to the Conference Hall area. Participants should see the Secretariat for all matters relating to the Forum.
